The Hurricane coil cleaning system was used at a 51 story building in the USA to clean the chilled water coils of their cooling system.

RESULTS:

The static pressure drop was 0.391 inches of their HVAC system which is close to the published data for new coils of 0.33 inches for static pressure! – near to new condition!

Annual energy savings were calculated to be 53,900 kWh and 11 kW.

After cleaning, the fan speed in the unit was able to be reduced to 75% from 100% providing additional energy savings.

Thermal efficiencies in the cleaned coils was improved dramatically and significantly more than in previous cleanings using other methods..

There was more efficient use of chilled water after the cleaning – again, delivering additional energy savings.

At approximately 8 cents per kWH, the resulting savings for this one 60 H.P. motor is $4312.0 per year.

Total savings for the building because of increased efficiency and all other savings taken into account is in excess of $50,000.00 a year!
